EMail Security Alert

This DDoS spam/phishing attack has begun again in a much broader scope, with over a dozen users affected at this point. The Service Desk is tracking with Problem ticket [#PRB-2]. Each user is receiving thousands of "Welcome" messages from random websites. Temporary workaround for this DDoS situation is to block incoming external emails for this mailbox until it passes, likely tomorrow.

If you begin to experience this issue, please email the Service Desk (support@gldd.com) or contact them via chat at the "ServiceDesk - Get Support" channel (https://bit.ly/3ZDB8SF) immediately so that a ticket can be created and the incoming messages blocked.

BE ADVISED - the first time we saw this it was followed by a fraudulent incoming Teams chat pretending to be IT Support offering help resolving the issue. Be on the lookout for such a message and DO NOT ENGAGE the sender. We do not know if that message is intended as a social hacking attempt to deceive the user into giving access, or if there is another mechanism for gaining access embedded in the communication. The Service Bot, by the way, is harmless - it's just alerting you to an update in your support ticket and can be ignored.

We have seen at least two separate attempted attacks characterized by a recipient receiving thousands of welcome emails from random websites, followed by an attempted chat contact through Teams pretending to be Tech Support.

Please be aware of such attempts, and email the ServiceDesk at support@gldd.com as soon as possible if you become the target of such an attack.
